Duprie, is a Cameroonian singer and songwriter best known for his musical work in the Afrobeat, Afropop, Afro swing and R&B genres. He began his career as a recording artist in 2021, with the release of self-produced debut single "Pull Up". Damen Priestley Dume, popularly known as Duprie was born and raised in the city of Kumba in the Southwest region of Cameroon. Performing at community shows and school competitions, his passion for music began in secondary school with influences drawn most notably from the likes of Michael Jackson, Richard Bona and R. Kelly Duprie attended secondary school at Government Bilingual High School in the city of Kumba in the Southwest region of Cameroon and later transferred to Bilingual Grammar School in the city of Buea, also in the Southwest region of Cameroon. He later moved to the United States where he attended Brown University. In 2018 while studying at Brown University, Duprie founded Damrex Records - a label he is also affiliated to as an artist. In 2021, Duprie released his first single “Pull Up” which was immediately followed by two other singles - “Playboy” in collaboration with Ghanaian artist Ahkan and his Afrolove classic “Le Ndem" produced by prolific Cameroonian producer PhillBill.
